Another brutal drive of 2 hrs. It was so easy we actually took the back country roads and stayed off the Interstate as much as we could. Spearfish has a very nice resort style camp ground we have stayed at before. We used it as a base to visit all the Harley stores in the area (I wanted T shirts from each dealership). And the cool thing was some of the dealerships are in our favorite areas of the Black Hills. We especially like the Custer area – The Custer State Park has herds of buffalo.

There are lots of “touristy stuff” to do in this area – Mt. Rushmore, Crazy Horse Monument, Museums – but we did them all last year so didn’t do them this time.

It was a quick 3 days driving all over the area. One of our favorite areas – truly magnificent. But between Harley shops, catching up (finally had decent internet), and of course eating at some great places, the 3 days zipped by. You could tell the Sturgis Rally was just around the corner – vendors setting up every where, the bars all getting ready for all the people. We did the Rally on our bike 9 years ago – once was enough for me. But I have to say it was nice to be here close to the start but not quite in all the craziness.
