It was only a couple of hours to Salt Lick, part of the Army Corp of Engineers projects. These are awesome camp grounds always located on a water feature that they helped built (dams and locks, water retention, etc). We only had water and electric (common in the east and south), but that’s all we really need to be comfortable (definitely need the AC in this heat and humidity). We can go an easy 4 days without dumping our tanks.
The bugs were back – so much so that we couldn’t really do the fire in the evenings. Even with 40% Deet, we were all being bitten. So as much as we like to be outside, we found ourselves inside the rigs at night. Good thing because we like to read. This campground is beautiful with lots of trees and is on a lake with spacious camp sites.

We had absolutely NO cell service or internet connections (the horror of it all)! We are still working so I had to make runs to an area where I could text. But then something must have connected at some point because at 2 in the morning I would get 10 texts all at once (but still couldn’t text out). Even now, idays later, finally have service and can get caught up with the blog.
This campground was on the east side of Nashville (close to Gainsboro). Not much going on in Gainsboro these days, but did manage to find a fairly decent pizza place. We’d explore the roads around and found another COE campground that was also very nice. Maybe need to come back with a patio boat. 🙂

We were here only two nights. Just wanted to break up the drive to Memphis.
