Ken and Marsha

Medora, ND (With Polson thrown in) July 30 to August 5, 2021

We really liked Medora. Not only is it the entrance to Theodore Roosevelt National Park, but the town itself is a show about our 26th President. The town is a cute, touristy place that has many shows about Roosevelt. We really enjoyed everything we did, and as usual, could have stayed there longer.

Show Finale

As it turns out our friends John & Bonnie came to Medora too. Our first evening we attended the PITCHFORK STEAK FONDUE  and the Medora Musical. It was an outdoor steak BBQ with all the fixins. Actually was pretty good for a huge cookout. Then we saw the musical in an outdoor amphitheater. It could be described as cheesy, but we thought it was cool. Very patriotic with singing, dancing and other entertainment.

The finale had a cowboy riding off into the sunset carry the flag. A worthwhile event.

The next morning I surprised Marsha with the Gospel Brunch. She loves gospel music and this was perfect. Saw many of the same entertainers as in the previous nights show. These guys and gals seem to work all day long at various venues.

Another show we enjoyed was a talk with Teddy Roosevelt himself. This guy was great – not only looked like Teddy, but knew his history down pat. Questions from the audience were answered quickly and seemed correct. An hour well spent.

Captain Cody ever watchful

Just to keep things interesting, we decided to do a quick drive back to Polson. What’s a 10 drive among friends. We left the RV at the Medora Campground so we could make better time. The lot we bought in Montana was having a HOA meeting, and we heard some talk during our Jeep run that brought some concerns for us. We felt it was a good idea we go hear what’s up to think about do we even want to build here. So we took off, drove straight through to Missoula (there was a fire near Polson and hotels were only open to those that were being evacuated). Did the HOA meeting, meet 21 neighbors (most like us not having a house yet), learned they were concerned about the development, and made us feel better about everything. Prior to this evening, there was only 2 people on the board (new HOA), so now there is a full board and people are floating some good ideas. So up the next morning for another 10 hour drive back to Medora.

Just a stroll through the campground.

John & Bonnie had left on their journey by the time we got back. So much fun sharing this with friends, but fortunately Marsha still likes me so we do well on our own. Driving though the National Park is interesting – Bison, wild horses, prairie dogs and big horn sheep. This area is also known as the Badlands, but maybe takes a close second to South Dakota’s Badlands. The “loop” road was washed out, so you could only drive a ways in then had to turn around. Still very enjoyable.

Looked better in person

We only had one full day after our quick trip to Polson, so soon it was time to head on down the road. We were off to see our grandson, Devon.
