We arrived later than we wanted as we couldn’t take off until our repair was done, But with it being light out until 10 PM we had plenty of time to get camp set up. We stayed at Yellowstone Holiday RV Park about 20 minutes outside West Yellowstone. We had been warned that this area had some wicked winds, and they did not disappoint. Only trouble was it was still rather cold at this time of year, and the wind would blow right through you. Made it hard to hang outside, especially at night.
When we were in this area a year earlier, we saw Hebgen Lake and wanted to come back. On this trip we figured we would not be going into Yellowstone National Park as we did not want to deal with any crowds. Our first morning we went into West Yellowstone (the West Entrance to the Park) and found it eariley empty. So we decided to go on into the Park. WOW, this was the best time we have ever been here. There was nothing open as far a lodging or campgrounds, so it was only fishermen and travelers. It was amazing to be able to drive roads that were normally bumper to bumper. Saw lots of Buffalo, some Elk, but no bears or Wolves.
