Traveling from the Nashville area to Chattanooga, was only 173 miles, but we hit some pretty heavy traffic in the Chattanooga area. A 2.5 hr ride took over 4 hrs. Worse, a truck in front of me lost his tire tread and I had no choice but to go over it. Hit my stairs (folded up out of the way) and totally twisted them to where they wouldn’t work any longer. Good thing a RV service center was close by. We made it into the campground tired after the drive.
Chattanooga has a 35 mile long River Walk. It’s actually very cool and we wanted to ride our bikes along part of it. Of course, it was 96 degrees and 90% humidity, so wasn’t as easy as we thought it would be. Still had fun and did a couple of hours. Afterwards we met Bill and Debbie at a nice restaurant right on the River.

The day we took the RV in to get the stairs fixed, we found a little place for breakfast. As we walked in everyone stopped and looked at us – Marsha in her mind heard “y’all ain’t from around here are ya ?”. But everyone was real friendly y’all. In fact one of the gentlemen got down from his stool at the counter and came to our table, He pulled up a chair and talked to us during our entire meal. He told us about his travels in Alaska which was interesting because we hope to travel there in 2020. We had Cody (our cat) in the car (with a/c running). The waitresses noticed him sitting in the car looking into the diner. They were commenting on cute he was so at the end of our meal Marsha brought him into the restaurant. They told him how cute he was and petted him. He liked it!

Although Chattanooga has a lot of cool tourist things to do (Ruby Falls, Rock City, Lookout Mountain), we just drove by. Too hot and humid to do much exploring, but the drives were nice. We did a lot of hanging out at our campground getting caught up on work, doing laundry etc. because we knew that next week would be very busy. So after a relaxing Labor Day weekend, we were ready to head out once again.
