It was a quick 1.5 hour drive from Eagle to my brother Rick’s place in Carbondale. Again we were driveway mooch docking but Rick has installed a dump station, we we could take of the business we needed to. We got to see Rick and Jill several times this year, but it was so cool to see them again. Of course their home sits at 7700 feet, so my breathing was challenged even more.
Of course because he loves me, he took me up the road to about 10000 feet for fun. It was a gorgeous drive with some pretty fall colors. Past some lakes and rivers. Colorado is certainly pretty. Can’t say I did much hiking here.

Rick used to own Two Rivers Café in Basalt for the last 40 years. Sold it all last year, but I still asked if we could go into town and eat at it once again. It’s a very popular watering hole in town, and the food is quite good. I enjoyed hanging there one more time. The town sure has changed – from being a cowboy town when he opened to the trendy place it is now. As he says, the billionaires have moved into Aspen forcing the millionaires to move down valley to Basalt.
We enjoyed hanging out with Rick and Jill. They had one of their grandsons there so we got to play with him a bit – guess who got tired out? One of their daughters, Carmen, is a massage therapist, so I challenged her to see if she could help this old body. Man, that girl is strong. I could barely get off the table when she was done. Why couldn’t she live closer?
Again, hanging with Rick and Jill was great and time flew by. Before you know it, it was time to head out again. We are hoping to hook up with them next winter for another camping trip.
