After leaving St. George area on Saturday June 1, we drove for a few hours to Bryce Canyon. We stayed at Ruby’s Inn & RV Park. One of the largest camp sites we have ever seen – a good 40 feet width of parking space along with a 40 ft grass and stone patio area. Very nice area – the closest to the National Park. Being a Saturday, the line was a good mile long to get into the park, so we decided to wait a few days to actually see Bryce Canyon.

We spent a couple of days just hanging out at the rig, enjoying the peace and quiet. Got caught up on some work (well we are never actually caught up, just less behind). Rode the bike on an amazing paved bike path that goes for miles, took walks around the campground, and took naps. Not sure why we were so tired but the naps sure felt good. (We blamed it on the elevation).

We did go into the park – amazing Hoodoo formations. Very unique water sculpted spires. It’s an 18 mile road into the canyon with various lookouts along the road. So most hiking trails go down to the canyon floor, then – you guessed it – back up. I stayed with the rim trials. They had horse ride, ATV or razor rentals, but we stayed on our feet.

One day we drove into the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument. Again beautiful rock formations. We found a slot canyon and hiked about 5 miles jumping over the creek the entire way. Was easier to just walk in the water coming out. We thought being in a slot canyon we’d be in mostly shade, but this was not the case. We should have gone earlier or later than the mid day sun. But a good time was had by all.
