Our original plan was to stay in Butte, MT, but in my research I found better campgrounds in Anaconda, about 20 miles away. Goes to show you reading reviews can be misleading. We stayed at Big Sky RV Park. Not really a bad place, but basically full of permanent residents. And again, being full time RVers I have no issue with permanent residents, but they tend to have so much junk surrounding their rigs is looks trashy.

The weather started deteriorating on the drive here – lots of rain and hail. I had turned on my lights so people could see us better, and of course I left the lights on when we arrived. So the next morning we woke to a snow covered landscape and a dead chassis battery. Seems being plugged into shore power does not charge your driving battery.

Not expected!

So I had to go find an auto parts store and get a new battery. Fun to do in snow. But people were very nice, got it done without too much trouble (remember you are talking to Mr. Not Do It Yourself).

At this point Montana had a strict 14 day quarantine in place. Other than getting the battery and doing laundry, we stayed to ourselves.

Next morning it was clear but some roads still had snow on them, but we were able to make it out of town safely. Back to the highway, and again headed north.
